Such a fun and busy day is in store for me next Sunday, February 23 at Arabesque Dance & Fitness! From 12 p.m.-2 p.m., the studio hosts an open house drop-in event. Four class offerings are available. I'll be teaching Intro to Belly Dance (no experience needed) at 12 noon, and ITS at 1 p.m.! Cost is $8/class or $15/2 classes (or for you and a friend)! No pre-registration is necessary - just show up and be ready to dance! This is a great way to try something new with no commitment. However I warn you, after just one class, you'll be hooked! I know I was! After the drop-in event, stay for Aerial Yoga! I am so excited to try this new monthly offering at Arabesque! I love-love-love me some yoga, and can not wait to try this out. Instructor Jenn Liang is offering an energetic class from 3 p.m.-4:15 p.m., and then a restorative class from 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. Space is limited, so don't wait to sign up! For more information go to: Arabesque's Workshop page. After Aerial Yoga, stay for Arabesque's Cairo by Night Performance Party! I am so thrilled to be dancing with BellyRing, Arabesque's ITS troupe! We've polished up a new piece just for this event! If you've never been to a Cairo by Night event - you are missing out! These events are fun and are a great way to meet fellow students and instructors, as well as being witness to so many wonderful performances from different genres of belly dance. Not only do the Arabesque instructors and students perform, but the night features a guest artist or two. And there is always good food and drink to be had ($5 off entry fee if you bring a dish to pass!). Doors open at 7 p.m., dancing starts at 8 p.m. Don't miss out on this fun-filled day and night of events!

So excited to be headed back to Tribal Massive! This will be my third time attending this awesome event. While I attend classes and workshops regularly, this week long intensive is a full immersion into the wonderful word of tribal belly dance. Dancers from all around the globe come to Las Vegas every year to take part in this boutique event. Small class sizes, internationally-known instructors and workshops covering everything from technique to stage presence to concepts and theory, make this event one that is not to be missed. It is both mentally and physically draining, and believe it or not by the end of the 8th day, I'll have logged 49 hours of class time. This year, I'm finally biting the bullet and throwing my hat in the ring to perform. I'll be dancing at The Tribal Massive Belly Dance Showcase on March 3, 2014 at The Plaza Hotel in downtown Las Vegas! I am so excited and honored to share the stage with so many amazing dancers that are part of this event, including fellow Arabesque instructor and one of my mentors, Eliza Perry! Can't believe in a few short weeks, I will be dancing, drilling, zilling with... Zoe Jakes, Sharon Kihara, Jill Parker, Amy Sigil, Kami Liddle and Mira Betz, oh my! |
